The 2025 school year is officially upon us, but summer isn’t done with us yet. Folsom and El Dorado Hills are still buzzing with concerts, community projects, and plenty of ways to cool off with a drink (or a pup-friendly spa day).

If you’ve been meaning to get involved locally, now’s the time, Community Service Day needs you. And if you’re just here just for the seafood and zydeco fiddle, we’ve got that too.

Scott’s Seafood Roundhouse – Folsom

Tucked into historic Old Folsom, Scott’s Seafood Roundhouse is where special occasions meet a relaxed kind of elegance. Its roots go back to San Francisco in 1976, where the brand originated at the corner of Lombard and and Scott Street. In March of 1999, John and Suzanne Cook brought Scott’s Seafood to Folsom, opening a location on Greenback Lane. In 2012, John Cook learned about a development plan for a new historic Railyard-style “Roundhouse” on Sutter Street, and in the summer of 2020, Scott’s Seafood relocated to the new Roundhouse - a beautiful reproduction of the original historic railroad building.

Favorites like the macadamia-crusted sea bass, honey walnut shrimp, and crab bisque keep regulars coming back, even those who aren’t usually seafood fans.

The cocktails are dialed in, the staff treats you like family, and the riverfront charm adds to the glow. Don’t skip the sourdough or the cioppino broth, you’ll want a straw.

Whether your pup is anxious, aging, or just picky about groomers, (or maybe you just don’t have the time between work, the gym, school pick ups, sports, the market, and all the things you do) - Good Dog Spa brings patience and heart to every appointment. With both spa and mobile options, their gentle team takes the time to build trust, especially with pets who’ve had tough grooming experiences in the past.

The owner, Jean, has been a grooming professional for over 30 years, and now has 5 vans and their well known Spa location. Jean is a certified Pet Aesthetician and provides effective services for dogs with skin issues!

The staff is kind, the service is top notch, and dogs come out looking fresh, calm, and wagging. It’s worth every penny for the peace of mind.

Folsom Community Service Day Signups Now Open

The Gist: Volunteer registration is now open for Folsom’s 12th annual Community Service Day, set for Saturday, Sept. 20. More than 1,500 volunteers are needed for projects across parks, schools, trails, and neighborhoods. Those interested in helping with Folsom Cordova Unified projects can begin signing up Sept. 1.

Why It Matters: This is Folsom’s largest volunteer event and a powerful way for residents of all ages to give back and strengthen their community.
