Folsom's 911 Lifelines Get Their Moment in the Spotlight

The Gist: Folsom PD is recognizing its dispatch team during National Public Safety Telecommunications Week, April 12-18. Last year alone, dispatchers handled over 63,000 calls, including nearly 23,000 emergency 911 calls, and answered more than 99% of those within 15 seconds.
Why It Matters: Behind every local emergency response is a dispatcher keeping cool under pressure, and these numbers show just how much ground Folsom's team covers every single day.
What's Next: National Public Safety Telecommunications Week runs through April 18.
Honors for Our Local Schools: 2026 EDCSBA Awards

The Gist: On March 23, 2026, the Placerville Gathering Place hosted the annual EDCSBA Awards Dinner to celebrate local education leaders. The night featured student work at every turn, from Ponderosa High FFA flowers to awards built by El Dorado High woodshop students. Key honors went to Cathy Wilson for the Spirit of Boardsmanship, alongside several others recognized for statesmanship and community service.
Why It Matters: This gathering highlights the dedicated neighbors and volunteers who work behind the scenes to support our kids. By involving students in the catering and decor, the event proves that our schools are tight-knit communities where everyone contributes to local success.

Manderes has that effortless, high-energy pull that makes a weeknight feel like an occasion. The server likely won't have to write your order down, but won't miss a beat, either.
The room is buzzy and tight-knit, perfect for sharing a plate of those signature crisp wings or the legendary fried Brussels sprouts. Pair them with a glass from their "no crap on tap" beer list for the full experience.

Local brushstrokes meeting flavor and community

The Atrium Gallery is coming alive this April with a Saturday evening that pairs local creativity with the neighborhood palate. The night starts at the Atrium Gallery for a reception featuring the textured landscapes of Volha Naruta-Johnson and Jenny Huang’s delicate watercolors.
After meeting the artists, everyone is invited to wander through the center to enjoy various food and beverage samples from participating businesses. It is a lovely way to celebrate the arrival of spring while supporting the artists who will also open their studios later in May.
