It is always inspiring to watch local kids do amazing things. This week we are celebrating a young El Dorado Hills equestrian who is heading to three national championship events after only six years in the sport. It is a great reminder of the talent tucked away in our neighborhoods.

If you are looking to create some of your own milestones this weekend, we found a great new spa spot for a quick reset and a cozy bistro perfect for date night. Have a wonderful weekend out there.

An EDH teen is headed to three equestrian championships

The Gist: Seventeen-year-old El Dorado Hills equestrian Payton Fullmore is headed to three championship competitions this summer after earning national recognition and committing to compete at the NCAA level. She only took up the sport six years ago, which makes the climb even more impressive.

Why It Matters: This is the kind of local student story that travels well. It is competitive, specific, and a nice reminder that EDH kids are doing some very serious things outside the classroom too.

Folsom is still looking for Community Service Day ideas

The Gist: Folsom has extended the deadline for Community Service Day project ideas to July 31. The 13th annual event is set for September 19, and the city is looking for project suggestions from residents, schools, nonprofits, neighborhood groups, and local organizations.

Why It Matters: This is one of those civic things that actually turns into visible work around town. If there is a park corner, school project, senior-help idea, or neighborhood cleanup that has been sitting in the back of someone’s mind, this is the moment to raise a hand.

A Palladio dinner with bourbon-bar energy

230 Palladio Parkway, Suite 1201, Folsom, CA

Back Bistro is one of those places that works when dinner needs to feel a little more pulled together, but not stiff. The Palladio restaurant leans into casual California cuisine, a relaxed dining room, craft cocktails, wine, beer, and what it calls Folsom’s first bourbon bar.

The menu has enough range to keep a table happy without making the night complicated. The food menu includes dishes like ahi poke, steak and potatoes, a cheese burger made with house-ground trimmings, and sandwiches that feel a little more dressed up than the usual quick bite.

It is a good answer for a Palladio night, especially if the plan is dinner first, then a slow walk, a movie, or one more drink before heading home.

A Sutter Street reset spot

715 Sutter Street, Suite D, Folsom, CA

Alchemy Spa and Boutique is tucked into Historic Folsom with the kind of services that make sense when life has been running a little too fast. The boutique spa offers massage, skincare, waxing, lash extensions, brow services, and a small-shop feel right in the middle of Sutter Street.

What makes it nice for this section is that it is not just another errand stop. It feels like the kind of place you book when you want an actual reset, then maybe give yourself permission to wander downtown afterward.

If you are already building a Sutter Street afternoon around lunch, shopping, or a show, this is an easy little self-care note to keep in your back pocket.
