Blue Zones, Marshall Medical Center team up for EDH health

The Gist: Blue Zones Project (a community wide well being initiative modeled after the unique populations around the world that have extraordinary longevity) and Marshall Medical Center are teaming up to assess the health and well-being of El Dorado Hills, aiming to create an action plan to help residents live longer, healthier lives. The multi-day Blue Zones Ignite assessment runs Sept. 16–18, starting with a public keynote by Dan Buettner, Jr. on Sept. 16 at the Patra Corp. building.

Why It Matters: The effort could spark community wide changes to make healthy choices easier, improve well-being, and reduce healthcare costs across El Dorado Hills. Blue Zone Principals emphasize natural movement, self purpose, stress reduction, mindful eating, strong social connections and activities, and a largely plant based diet.
