Folsom Police Get 173,500 Dollars for Traffic Safety Push
The Gist: Folsom Police secured a 173,500 dollar grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety to boost road safety through September 2026. The funding supports DUI checkpoints, distracted driving enforcement, cyclist and pedestrian protections, and safety presentations across the city. Officers will also focus on speeding and stop sign violations.
Why It Matters: The grant aims to cut crashes and dangerous driving so local roads feel safer for everyone.
Folsom OKs Flood Protection Upgrade at Ed Mitchell Park
The Gist: Folsom City Council approved the next round of drainage upgrades at Ed Mitchell Park to help protect nearby homes from flooding. The project includes a new concrete flood wall, regrading the park’s drainage swale, removing some landscaping and fencing, and adding a new drainage inlet. Sierra National Construction won the bid at 156,300 dollars.
Why It Matters: Neighbors near the park have faced repeated flood concerns, so these improvements aim to boost protection during heavy storms.
