EDH takes an exciting step toward cityhood
The Gist: The El Dorado Hills Community Services District board voted unanimously 4-0 to approve a negative declaration for cityhood, determining that becoming a city will not harm the environment. The decision allows the community to bypass a lengthy environmental impact report and completes the application submitted in June 2025.
Why It Matters: Local supporters are eager for residents to have a direct say in community growth. Becoming an official city would give neighbors local control over land development, affordable housing mandates, and the ability to create a dedicated police force to serve the area.
EDCAR Charity Golf Tournament sells out fast
The Gist: The El Dorado County Association of Realtors will host its 27th annual Charity Golf Tournament on Monday, Sept. 28, 2026, at Cameron Park Country Club. While all golfer spots are completely sold out, EDCAR President Maury O’Hearn notes that the fundraising effort is far from over.
Why It Matters: EDCAR donates over $100,000 back to the community each year, with this tournament raising more than $15,000 annually. This year’s proceeds will directly benefit local military families through American Legion Post 119 and college scholarships for veterans' children.
