Can you believe we are already cruise control into June? The weather is absolutely perfect right now, and it officially feels like that sweet spot of the year where everyone is looking for an excuse to stay outside past sundown.

If you want to kick off the season the right way, the Twilight Concert Series is back in Historic Folsom this Thursday with free live music at the amphitheater. Patios on Sutter Street are going to fill up fast, so make sure to get down there early. Grab a cold drink, take a look at the weekend lineup below, and go enjoy our beautiful community.

Historic Folsom’s summer concerts are back

The Gist: Historic Folsom’s Twilight Concert Series is back at the Zittel Family Amphitheater, with free Thursday night shows running from June 4 through August 27. The season opens with CCsegerR, a tribute act built around Bob Seger and Creedence Clearwater Revival favorites.

Why It Matters: This is one of those local traditions people actually plan around. Sutter Street gets busier, patios fill up early, and the whole district feels more like summer once the music starts.

What's Next: Sugar High Band takes the stage on June 11 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Lavender Day is bringing the Murer House gardens back to life

The Gist: Historic Murer House and Gardens is hosting its annual Lavender Day on Saturday, June 6, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The free event will include local vendors, lavender-themed gifts, gardening talks, honey, raffles, and time to wander the property.

Why It Matters: This is a very Folsom kind of event: historic, low-key, pretty, and easy to enjoy without turning the day into a production. It also gives people a reason to revisit one of the city’s quieter landmarks.

A dinner spot we keep in rotation

Manderes is one of those Folsom restaurants that feels easy to recommend because it knows what it is. The room is casual, the beer list matters, and the whole place gives off that “meet here after work or bring friends on Saturday” kind of energy.

The menu leans into American comfort with enough range to keep everyone happy. Think burgers, steaks, seafood, salads, ribs, and a long craft beer list built around the house motto, “No Crap on Tap.” That tells you plenty about the attitude before you even sit down.

It is not trying to be precious. It is just a solid neighborhood bar and restaurant that works when you want good food, a drink, and a table where nobody is rushing you out.

A sweet little summer tradition

Once in a Blue Moon Berries feels like the kind of place you forget exists until someone reminds you, and then you immediately want to go. It is a local u-pick blueberry farm in El Dorado Hills, and early June is exactly when this kind of outing starts making sense.

The draw is simple in the best way. Bring the family, pick your own berries, and get a little dirt on your shoes without driving halfway across the county. The farm supplies buckets and teaches visitors how to pick, which makes it a pretty easy outing even if you have never done it before.

It is part errand, part little adventure, and exactly the kind of seasonal local thing that makes summer feel like summer.
