Thunderbirds Locked In for 2026 Capital Airshow
The Gist: The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds will headline the 20th annual California Capital Airshow at Mather Airport on October 10 and 11, 2026. The event will celebrate the nation’s 250th birthday and is expected to draw major crowds. This year’s show broke records with more than 146,000 attendees.

Sheriff’s Surprise Reunion Warms Local School
The Gist: El Dorado County Sheriff Jeff Leikauf surprised Independence High junior Lucas McRoberts at the school’s Thanksgiving feast. Years ago, Leikauf was Lucas’s Big Brother, and the two shared an emotional reunion. Staff say Lucas often spoke about the Sheriff’s impact on him.
