Spring doesn't officially arrive with the calendar. It arrives when the Sutter Street Market is back to full swing and the Saturday morning light hits the Town Center amphitheater just right. This week, the warm weather is cooperating, and so is the events calendar.

Easter weekend is bringing something for everyone across both cities, from an underwater egg hunt in El Dorado Hills to vintage shopping on a sunny Sunday afternoon in Historic Folsom. We also have two local stories this week that are going to make you proud to live here, and a restaurant in EDH that more people should know about.

The Neighborhood Chophouse That Refuses the Label

3909 Park Drive, Suite 160, El Dorado Hills, CA

Nobody told ELDO Chophouse & Kitchen it had to be a traditional steakhouse, and that turns out to be the whole point. Owners Angelo Heropoulos and John Keller built this La Borgata gem around a simple idea: serve the dishes you love at prices that feel fair.

The Wagyu filet with truffle butter, a chicken parmigiana delivered tableside in a skillet of pink vodka sauce, seared scallops with black truffle that regulars keep reordering, and a wine list priced at retail with zero corkage fee all deliver on that promise. The room is sharp without being stiff.

The Shop That Kept Dimple Records' Spirit on Bidwell Street

313 E Bidwell St, Folsom, CA

Andrew Radakovitz grew up watching his parents build Dimple Records into a Sacramento institution. When they closed all seven locations in 2019 after 45 years, he and partner Erie Loch moved into the same Bidwell Street building and opened The Cave.

The shelves are packed with vintage vinyl, retro games, collectibles, pop culture finds, comics, and DVDs priced deliberately below market value. Regulars describe it as a treasure hunt where everything is genuinely rare, the staff actually knows their stuff, and nobody ever seems to leave on schedule.

El Dorado Hills Teen Sweeps Statewide Pageant, Heads to Texas This Summer

The Gist: Saanvi Palem, a 13-year-old from El Dorado Hills, was recently crowned Jr. Teen California Regency International, sweeping four awards at the statewide competition: Best Interview, Best Talent, Best Social Media Star, and the People's Choice Award with 1,400 votes. Her Bollywood dance routine earned top marks from judges, and she now prepares to represent California at the International Regency competition in Texas this July.

Why It Matters: An El Dorado Hills kid is heading to an international stage this summer, and she got there on talent, charisma, and a platform built entirely around kindness.

Two Folsom Elementary Students Invented an Underwater Robot That Could Save Drowning Kids

The Gist: Sahana Reddy and Claire Jenkins, both students at Sandra J. Gallardo Elementary School in Folsom, just took home a regional win in the national Toshiba/NSTA ExploraVision competition. Their concept, the UnderWatch Lifeguard, is an AI-powered underwater robot that detects swimmers in distress using a 360-degree dome camera and lifts them to safety in under 20 seconds. Coached by Alexis Sohrakoff, the pair is now advancing to national judging.

Why It Matters: Drowning is the leading cause of death for young children, and two kids from Folsom may have just designed a smarter response to it.

What's Next: National winners will be recognized at the ExploraVision awards ceremony on June 5.
