From Easter events across both cities to a few standout local stories, there’s plenty worth your time here. We’ve also got a Town Center restaurant that’s been quietly building a following, and it might be time to see what the buzz is about.

When a restaurant family has been feeding Sacramento since 1939, you pay attention. Fat's Asia Bistro carries that legacy into Folsom with a stunning dining room inspired by ancient Asian temple architecture, designed by San Francisco's BCV Architects.

The honey walnut prawns and garlic green beans are customer obsessions, the Seafood Fat Pot is a brothy showstopper, and happy hour runs six days a week. Eighty-plus years in, the Fat family clearly hasn't lost a step.

Talisman Collection Fine Jewelers has been collecting awards since it opened in 2008, and the list is not short. A certified woman-owned business, Talisman carries custom-designed pieces, loose diamonds at 25% over wholesale, and a Makers Mart inside the store where local artists get shelf space and mentorship.

The Gist: Sarah Aquino, a Folsom City Council member who has served as mayor twice and spent years on education and transportation boards across the region, has been named the 2026 California Woman of the Year for Senate District 6 by Senator Roger Niello. Her son put it simply: she's a public servant, not a party servant.

Why It Matters: Folsom has a way of producing leaders who stay close to the community they serve. Aquino still picks up trash around the city and works weekend shifts at a local restaurant. This one's well earned.

The Gist: Capy Cafe is officially making a splash in Folsom, moving into the old Aun Brew & Co. spot at 1001 E Bidwell St. This new neighborhood gem is all about ceremonial-grade matcha and small-batch beans, serving up vivid green lattes alongside Vietnamese favorites like ca phe sua da and pandan cookies. While we're still waiting on an official opening date, the shop is already turning heads with its playful capybara-themed merch and "camera-ready" drinks.

Why It Matters While we’ll miss our friends at Aun Brew, this new spot brings a whimsical, high-quality energy to the Bidwell stretch that’s perfect for a morning pick-me-up or a weekend treat. It’s another great reason to shop small and see what’s brewing right here in our own backyard.
